Emissions (IPCC)

Emissions of CO2, CH4, N2O ,SO2 and cumulative anthropogenic emission of CO2 since 1970

units:

CO2: Pg C/yr (Petagram carbon per year)
    CH4: Tg CH4/yr (Teragram CH4 per year)
    N2O: Tg N2O/yr (Teragram N per year)
    SO2: Tg S/yr (Teragram S per year)

dimension: region, category

These indicators show for carbon dioxide, methane, dinitrogen oxide and sulphur dioxide the emissions as they are simulated for three categories of sources: energy use, industrial production and land use. These emission scenarios are simulated in different part of the IMAGE 2.2 framework, most importantly TIMER, the Energy-Industry Emissions Model and the Land-Use Emissions Model. By showing them together, it is possible to get an overview of the main sources - both in terms of emission categories and regions. More details about the calculations methods, the meaning of the different indicators etc. are given at the description for these emission sources for the detailed IMAGE 2.2 indicators. The links below provide this information.

  1. Emissions from energy use
  2. Emissions from industrial production
  3. Emissions from land use
