This set of indicators shows the IMAGE 2.2 results at the aggregated level of the four World Regions used in IPCC's SRES report (IPCC, 2000). These indicators serve two purposes. First, they allow users to get an overall idea of the changes in the main indicators of the emission scenarios, without all the details presented elsewhere on this USS. Second, they allow users to compare the IMAGE 2.2 results with the scenarios published in the SRES report, including the so-called marker and illustrative scenarios. For that purpose, the indicators include almost all of the indicators reported at the statistical tables of the SRES report.
The four (IPCC regions) are the OECD90 Region, the REF Region (Central and Eastern Europe and the Former Soviet Union), the Asia region and the ALM region (Africa, Middle East and Latin America). The actual composition of these regions has been described at the regional definition page. In addition to the regional aggregation, most of the indicators here have also been aggregated along other dimensions. For instance, the land use indicator shows only a selected set of main categories and the emission indicators have only been desaggregated into three main components.
